CA/Income support

why is it that every time i get a rise in CA it is taken away from our income support so i am looking after my husband for nothing i get the care money every week but every week is taken back of me in the income support why is it not counted like DLA so with having to do 24/7 caring i get not a thing for it can anyone tell me y Thanks Christine

Feel for you, really do. I think they want something for nothing but you are amazing to do all you do. Take heart, a lot of us are going through the same. Carers allowance is looked as as income when working out tax credit!! Maybe one day we'll get some answers!!

Another one getting CA, but with husbang getting joint IS plus his IB and DLA. Here, the paperwork ways that what actually gets paid is a carers premium on the IS, but what happens is that the full amount fo CA is paid into my amount, then all but the carers premum (approx £25)deducted from the IS. If this doesn't confuse you, IMHO you're a natural accountant.

What we do in practice, is pool all the money coming in, deduct the bills (eg fuel, phone, rent etc), set aside a little for emergencies, and split what remains so we get half each.
