hated tax credits system

ive had a crap day. The tax credits have told me that i am having my payments reduced and i will of had an overpayment. Ive yet to discover what it is and i feel sick at the thought of it. We struggle daily as it is. I feel i have been grossly misguided by them after phoning them on numerous occasions and being told that everything was correct. I have never lied to any benefit people before and i never would. I told them our circumstances time and time again and now they tell us this. Has anybody else had a similar experience?? ive been really pissed off today and in tears. Crying emoticon Crying emoticon . It also happens to be my birthday tommorow, but i dont feel very up beat about it!! Sad emoticon

as for the tax credits yep i know exactly. im paying an overpayment off at £77 per month - 2 more left to pay i dont know how they recon i owe them as like yourself ive always told of any changes and kept them up to date.

infact 2 yrs ago they kept me waiting for 6 months when someone tried to clone my ni number! it was only when i lost it down the phone and told them that they could tell my kids that xmas was cancelled that they finally sorted it. they thought it was me trying to claim something i shouldnt!

as them for a detailed account as to when and how you were overpaid and ensure that it is correct.

hope you have a lovely day

Ring em again and ask them to explain where the overpayment has come from as they have to go through it and tell you. When you know what it is explain to them that you have kept them informed of any changes as required and that any overpayment is not your fault and you want to appeal it. They then send you a form to fill in and you have to tell them why you shouldn't have to pay the overpayment back. It takes a while but you do get any money they stop back. This happened to me when my son turned 16 (even though it said on the renewal pack that they dont need to be informed when a child leaves school as their system updates itself). My tax credits got halved and i appealed and as the error was not my fault i got all the payments back with a letter of apology Yes emoticon Loopy, explain in the letter that this is causing you financial hardship and they will deal with it a bit quicker. Good luck and have a happy birthday, as my old dad used to say.....Don't let the B***Ds get you down!!!

feeling better today. Its still on my mind though. They make you feel like bloody criminals. I always inform people of any changes where benfits are concerned. I am the type of person that if i get a bill through the post for whatever, i go out straight away and pay it! I am paying my credit card bill today, so that will be one less thing to worry about. Its the not knowing how much we owe that is doing my head in at the moment. thanks for your lovely messages. Big grin emoticon Big grin emoticon
