Re: social services
Wed 23 Jul 2008 13:12I would ain't be too happy if I was in your shoes either.
However, I would be wanting imediately the policies and procedures for such an incident along with putting in a full investigation on the incident due to not being informed when you went to collect your children. More so when you have been informed that your children are not being allowed to take part in the holiday club for the time being.
Also I would be asking straight away what are the alternatives availalbe to make sure that your children are in an environment which their health and safety will be exposed to the minimum of harm. (There is always going to be a risk element involved when there are children together with disabilities; therefore I suggest that you do say about the minimum of harm)
I understand there are children out there with exstreme challenging behaviour and I feel that these very children do not get the support which they need. More often than enough they are thrown off holiday clubs/play schemes as there are placed in situations which they are unable to cope with. Then no alternatives offered.
I do hope that the holiday club are able to allow your children back on and that they are able to reassure you that they will follow the correct policies and procedures. Then you can relax while they are away and that they enjoy their summer holidays

Re: social services
Wed 23 Jul 2008 15:14Even more reason to insist upon their policy and procedures for when staff, social workers and those involved fail to communiciate when such incidents occur.
Rattle their cages and they won't walk over you in the future. It should never of happend but if they think they can get away with it they will
Yes, understand I won't be annoyed with the children involved as they are the vluneralbe ones. It is the professionals who I would be disappointed with in thinking that I was able to trust them and then this to happen.
Mistakes do happen and if it is recified within a reasonable time then it shows action was taken as soon as it came to light. It is when you get fobbed off with this and that action needs to be taken so that your not the one left holding the children over the summer hoildays and they are all able to return to a club/scheme which is appropriate for their needs

Re: social services
Wed 23 Jul 2008 15:58You have to be new to dealing with social workers to believe they would give a damn about anyone but themselves. I would call the Police again and I would have take Photos dated of their injuries. They need reporting before a something very very serious happens.Who do you think will get the blame not them, you for sending them. Write to your local paper and name and shame them

Re: social services
Wed 23 Jul 2008 16:50this happened to my daughter who recieved nasty injurys to her arms by another lad. I photographed them with a digital camera and threatened the school with police action. Happily things turned out fine and the parents of the lad were told of what he had done and he was excluded from school for a while.
