Sat 19 Jul 2008 17:50Hello Nicky
May I first say good luck in your new home and hope that you have many happy years while living there.
As for costs to help you with moving it will depend upon your circumstances, i.e. you not working and being your daughter's carer you may be able to access funds from the DSS but you will have to contact them and ask about it.
Also if it is your daughter who has the disability you might be able to apply to the family fund for items in your new home. You can get an application form on line from their website which is:
Also if you contact your local carers centre they may be able to assist you in looking for funding. If you have a social worker she or he may be able to sign post you to possible funders to help you with your move.
Here in North Tyneside we have a community furniture shop where you can get good quality second hand goods at reasonable prices. I have had some good things over the years from there. One item I bought was a solid dressing table for £5 and it has not fallen to bits like the newly bought furniture which I have bought over the years has.
If I should find of any other sources of funding I shall get them posted on here for you
take care

Sat 19 Jul 2008 23:24freecycle uk mate, you will get allsorts from there just google freecycle and follow the prompts for your area and register, you wouldnt believe the stuff people put on there, i think you have to 'offer' something first but that could be anything from a tin of beans to garden shed, people offer and request so all you have to do is post a 'wanted' mail and you will get offers i assure you, good luck.
