hello everyone
My fiance Mark has just found out about a possible new drug to help halt the progression of his MS.The drug is called Low Dose Nartrexate and is used to treat Heroin addicts with withdrawel. The dose advised for ms is around 3 mg a day and for drug addicts it's 300mg (roughly!!).I am really posting this to find out if anyone else has heard of or is actually already using it to treat an illness. In America it has been used to treat MS since 1985 but here it is a new drug and a lot of doctors etc won't prescribe it.
thanks a lot

Re: L.D.N
Mon 7 Apr 2008 09:44You mean "low dose naltrexone". I've heard of it being used for some types of ME (since at least the 1990s) and it works v well indeed for some people.

Re: L.D.N
Mon 7 Apr 2008 16:15hello Kate
I would love to get in contact with you somehow - if the moderator reads this and you agree could we exchange email addresses?
Mark is having a hard time as although he has been diagnosed with secondary progressive ms for 12 years now he has no contact with a nuerologist-we just see the ms nurse, continence nurse, ots and anyone else who can help with things as they happen. LDN is supposed to stop the progression of the symptons and we are even looking at the possibility of having to go private to get it as our gp doesn't seem very keen.
Some websites to look at:
www.lowdosenaltrexone.org - Original site giving lots of info
www.ldnresearchtrust.org - useful for data in UK and doctors who will prescribe if yours won't
www.msrc.co.uk - lots of general info on MS and various therapies
I hope we can get in touch with each other-we are hopefully going to be trying to get Aimspro in the long term -have you heard of that?
www.proventus.org.ukThis is the email address for it - I tell everyone about it because Aimspro is still not licensed yet but it has had such a brilliant result with reversing the damage done by ms.
Good luck and keep in touch
