Sun 16 Mar 2008 15:53Hi Rachel.
WELCOME this is a very good site i have been here about 6 weeks now and everyone makes you feel welcomed. I care for my 14 year old son who has severe epilepsy and SLD. Along with 3 other children( well young adults really) and a hubby.
Do come in to the chat room sometimes normally on an evening were you will meet some very special carers.
Take care and talk soon.Ann

Sun 16 Mar 2008 17:42hi rachel.
welcome!
I care for two of my kids who are severely disabled, and also at uni full time doing 2nd yr of a degree.
funny, i was doing my dissertation presentation on thursday in front of 2 lecturers and as its on parent carers, we got onto the subject of how, now adays, with the geographical changes, many people (especially women) care for not only a child or children but also elderly parent/s.
people are living longer, chronic illnesses are being treated, and people are eating healthier and so on.
unfortunately there is not the added provision of more care for them and it falls on the shoulders of people like you (altho im sure u love your parents, it must be a strain)
i reckon we got maggie thatcher to thank when she said there is no such thing as community only individuals!!!Oh heck, there i go on my political soap box again rachel, sorry.
well back to the real world: 17 daughter incapable of getting bus as no money so gotta go pick her up now from her mates. (and she aint disabled lol, just a pain in the arris)Welcome!
