Hello Llardet

If you google dyspraxia foundation you will find their contact details. Some areas have support groups. There is a one held in north tyneside to support carers of Dyspraxia children and a support group in Newcastle for adults with Dyspraxia.

If you ask Michele for my email address I can forward you details of the person to contact who run these to see if they are able to help you with your enquiries.

My daughter was diagnosed with dyspraxia, hypotonia and sensory integration dysfunction at age five. There is light at the end of the tunnel - after lots of problems at school etc, and a long period of being home educated followed by a small tutorial college to sit exams, she is now at University College London reading Egyptian Archeology. I am adding this because I know how hard this is for both you and your child to cope with, but also that the future CAN be good. (I am on this site as a carer for my husband, by the way, but your post caught my eye). Good luck.

my daughter is 16 and has dyspraxia
she is just doing her GCSE and looking at getting grade b to c in all of them
school is very pleased with her as she is statemented for special needs
but she works very hard and the school (mainstream) really do a fantastic work with her as she is willing to work so hard the teachers also help after lessons

Hello Liardet

My caring role is different from yours (I look after my hubby) but I just wanted to say welcome to you.

You will already see that others have replied who can identify with your situation and I'm sure that their experience will be an encouragement to you.

The chat room is also a good place to meet others - best time is 7.30 pm onwards. Lots of wonderful people to chat with there.
