sorry to sound a bit gloomy but i think this country needs a serious size 10 up its backside. I care for my autistic daughter and i know that in a few years time, when she leaves school, i will have to give up my part time job and look after her. Now i don't mind that because she is my daughter and i love her to pieces. But instead of raising earnings allowance to £95 before your carers allowance is stopped, wouldnt it be better to raise CARERS allowance to £95 instead of the pittance it is now??

sorry to hear that your feeling a bit gloomy but understandable with the fears of having to face in caring for your daughter in the future. I have a 16 year old autistic son and is in his last year at school. However, at the age of 14 we started his transition period where we have discussed the options out there (not many but there are some) .
We have now got a placement for my son to attend a sixth form for three years so he can continue with his education. Sad thing is we are going to have to start thinking of his next step in life when he starts sixth form to make sure that we get the best for him.
Ask your local authority if they have a Transition officer in place so you can get the guidance which is needed through out this transition period.
Good luck
PS I strongly agree we should get £95 per week Carers Allowance but would need a top up to bring it up to todays liveable income bracket!
