Re: DEPARTMENT OF WORK AND PENSIONS
Sat 1 Dec 2007 11:25hi there
can any one advise me, i am a carer for my 80year old father who lives with me and i receive carers allowance. i have been offered work in the new year cleaning early morning before i get my father up, the pay would be £126 so i would lose my carers allowance as i believe you can not earn more than £95. i would still be looking after my father 24/7.
i have now heard that if you pay the money you receive over £95 into a pension scheme you can still get carers allowance, can this be true.

Sun 2 Dec 2007 15:42Jenny is £126 your take home pay or gross? You can deduct certain expenses such as tax ,n.ins, pension contributions, which may bring you down to the required amount. But seek detailed advice first. i THINK you can also deduct travel expenses and childcare?????

Re: DEPARTMENT OF WORK AND PENSIONS
Sun 2 Dec 2007 16:01SPERANZA, wonder how you managed to say that with your tongue firmly in your cheek!
Yes CA is a derisory amount, c£49. And its an ILLEGAL amount for the statutory declared hours of 35 or more per week it breaks minimum wage laws. Some peeps also get to work over 50 hours per week, thats also illegal under EU WTD rules.
Yet the government is allowed to go on exempting itself from prosecution and all the time not one major charity challenges that position.
If it were a union we would all be out on strike now!
