Hi.I am trying to get help for my wife who has bi polar disorder. She no longer has a CPN and it seems there is no counciller available to help her either..Her Physcatrist appears to have given up and she is told that there are no drugs that suit her and that she must just accept that fact. She keeps on saying to me that she cant go on anymore and what is the point of all this.To start with just getting her a CPN would be a help, someone who she can go to and get advice.Has anybody got any idea where I can start trying to get this done. Her local support group, where her previous CPN was have not been any help. They have just told her she does not need one or a counciler, even though on the last occation she did she her CPN before he left she was hysterical,in tears and could not speak. So if anybody can help please let me know.Oh yes I live in South East and I think My area comes under lewes district .

I am sorry they are not supporting your wife,I find it hard to believe there are no drugs to suit her,as it is trial and error in getting the right combination. All I can think of is get in touch with MIND,I think you will find your local office on the net.
Good luck.

Hi
Found some links for you to have a look at

www.mdf.org.uk

www.rcpsych.ac.uk

www.mind.org.uk

I think I remember someone telling me that mind provide an advocasy service which maybe of help to you. At least it would be someone else on your side.

There is no way that a your wife should in effect be told be told "to get used to the fact that there aren't any medication that suit her" its the psychatrists job to find the right treatment, true it may need adjusting from time to time but your wife is her/his patient they have a duty of care.

And councilling should be available to her and you to really.

I'm sorry i can't think of more to help.
