My partener of 20 years has had ms for 15 years she has always beena fighter and never let her condition get her down.In november 2005 a pressure appeared, the treatment that she received from the PCT was really unprofessional, since that time she has lost all her mobility and suffered another 6 pressure sores. This has hit me like a ton of bricks as she is now totally dependant on me.I would like you all to know that I am not complaining just explaining that I feel I am just a carer now and not a partener.

Thu 10 May 2007 10:41Hello Jessie
I hope that you will feel that you have come to the right place for support, encouragement and understanding. The Carers you will meet here have many different caring situations (including MS) and all age groups (I look after my husband who has had leukaemia for over 8 years - we are senior citizens). Yes I too feel that caring has taken over my life and some days it is very difficult just to be positive enough to cope with the necessities.
However I have found great benefit by meeting others on this site so please feel welcome. If you have any questions there are many here who are knowledgeable and very helpful. There is also the chat room - usually there is company there from 7.30.pm onwards - very friendly people who will make you welcome - do join in.
Kind regards - Mag

Thu 10 May 2007 10:52Hi Jessie, and welcome to the forum.
You will see already you are not alone. I cared for my mum (dementia and cancer) and still look after my dad 86 who has had heart attacks and strokes and depression over the last 10 years, whilst keeping our own home fires burning for my husband whos mobility was impaired following a crush injury 8 years ago and who is now battling cancer. Me....well when I was five my mum was told my heart was weak and my recurring bronchitis probably meant I would not see seven. WRONG........53 and still here, with the minimum of medicat attention I might add. Don`t get me wrong I have my bad days, but tackle each new morning as a new challenge. I have had my moan for the day/week/month now and feel better for it.
Hope you continue to meet more friends here
Meg
