Can of Worms!

Hello People
I don't see it as a can of worms lol, lovely expression though.
To me it's just a discussion.
A discussion about terminolgy regarding different aspects and fields of Caring.Donna was repeatedly assured that she was welcome to join this site. True people did disagree with some of her views on the difference between a Carer and being a Care Work.
I don't think any one was rude or insulting in their replies they just disagreed.
Such is life!
There are different grades and qualifications in all sorts of jobs.
I don't imagine my doctor would much appreciate me persisting in calling her Nurse. So I stopped doing that (joke).
I'm a grandmother
, which I'm very happy about. But I wouldn't be pleased if I was mistaken for my daughters grandmother.
So it's not about being welcoming or unwelcoming. It is really just trying to clear up the misconception that all Carers are the same it's about which terminolgy fits each individual type of Caring.
Vetinary surgeons and their staff Care for animals, but it doesn't make them Carers. And this is after all mostly a Discussion Board, it's not a Skateboard, Body Board or Surf Board.
True it's sometimes used as a Message and Notice Board but it's main purpose is for Discussions.

Sat 3 Feb 2007 11:08If careworkers wish to call themselves carers, I will call myself a housekeeper, nurse, advocate, minder, door supervisor, personal shopper, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, personal assistant, aromatherapist, masseuse, dresser, medicinal herbalist, immunologist, drug runner (the prescriptions include at least one controlled substance) and pain management technician.
