Nice idea of the Government to publish a Blue Badge parking map. How about a map or list of accessible toilets.
Trying to plan a journey for myself and my wife, who has Multiple Sclerosis, means trying to remember where we have seen accessible toilets, or trying to find them on route.
I could go on about accessible toilet problems too, maybe I'll see what replies come forth.

Re: Disabled Toilets
Tue 15 Aug 2006 21:50Dont go to Southend on sea There is only one disabled loo there as we found to my wifes displeasure. Its one that uses a radar key and we had left it in the car so had a 2 mile walk back to the car. When we eventualy got back to the loo the key didnt work, the yobos had buggered the lock so we had to find a cafe with a suitable loo. Bye that time it was Im afraid a little to late so we will never go to Southend again...
Bye the way the normal toilets are fine and plentiful but were all underground with steps. Get your asses in gear Southend???????/

Tue 15 Aug 2006 22:59If you can find an Ikea store their toilets are well thought out they have 2 toilets at different heights and a chair so that a carer can sit down if they are needed inside to assist

Fri 1 Sep 2006 11:26Nice idea re the map. Local authorities could go one further and provide changing rooms, very much like baby changing rooms but for disabled people who wear inco pads and need to be layed down to be changed.
My 12 year old son is one of these people and whilst disabled toilets are useful for me and my husband to use whilst we're with him so as not to leave him unattended at all (because he can't look after himself), I feel we need facilities, complete with maps, to accommodate everyone and their needs.

Sat 2 Sep 2006 01:12Hi Pandora, Yes most tourist offices can help, but wouldn't it be nice if you could look up a web based list and plan your journeys without having to find addresses etc for every county you need to drive through. It would also be nice if Disabled toilet facilities were better signposted.
Hi Jeanette, "I'm in chains"?, Penal or kinky? LOL. Looked at website, Hampshire and Southwest very poor.
