Young Carers
We provide support and respite for children under age 16 with a substantial, on-going responsibility for the care of a parent or sibling who is chronically ill, disabled or is otherwise in need of help.
Outings are arranged during the school holidays. One-to-one or small group events are also arranged. Staff work with young carers' families, often in association with our Adult Services staff and liaise with schools on issues which may arise with individual children who have a caring role.
Young carers are often reluctant to identify themselves, so may miss out on the help they need. We accept referrals from individuals and from health and social care professionals etc.
