The Princess Royal Trust Perth & Kinross Carers Centre

Young Carers Project

Young Carers are children and young people between the ages of five and eighteen years whose lives are in some way restricted because of the need to take responsibility for the care of a parent, sibling or other family member.

The person that they care for may suffer from a chronic or terminal illness, have a physical or learning disability, be affected by a mental health problem, or problems relating to substance or alcohol misuse.

The Young Carers Project aims to assist young carers to meet their social, emotional and educational needs.

Support the maintenance of the family unit.

Relieve stress on young carers and their families.

To raise awareness of young carers issues within the community, i.e. across statutory agencies, voluntary organisations, etc.

We also have a Rural Development Worker to identify young carers throughout Perth & Kinross and a Group Worker to help with the various activities.
