Jolomo turns Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry into Floating Art Gallery in aid of The Princess Royal Trust North Argyll Carers' Centre

Carers from North Argyll will benefit once more from John Lowrie Morrison's annual art exhibition aboard MV Isle of Mull as she plies her route from Oban to Colonsay and Craignure.

For John Lowrie Morrison, who signs his paintings 'Jolomo', this is his seventh exhibition on board the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry and he is delighted to be returning to this exceptional venue.

There are over 40 new paintings in his exhibition, 'Turas a cholbhsaigh' - Journey to Colonsay - a journey that guests themselves will make on the opening night of the exhibition. John says: 'This is the seventh Jolomo/CalMac Colonsay cruise ... but, for the first time, all the paintings are of Colonsay!'

Guests will have the opportunity to cruise, dine and view the paintings as they sail from Oban to Colonsay and back on the opening night. Thereafter, MV Isle of Mull will ply her normal route from Oban to Craignure, with the exhibition on board, until Monday 12 May. Special cruise tickets will be available for those who wish to stay on board for the round trip so that they can view the exhibition.

John and his wife, Maureen, are Patrons of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers. With Kranenburg Fine Art and Caledonian MacBrayne, they will donate five cent of all sales from the exhibition to The Princess Royal Trust North Argyll carers' centre.

John will also auction one of the paintings on view and guests will have the opportunity to win one of his prints in a raffle to be drawn during the cruise. In all, John hopes to raise over £5000 for The Princess Royal Trust North Argyll carers' centre.

A carer is someone who provides support to a relative or friend who could not manage otherwise because of frailty, illness, disability or addiction. A carer is unpaid.

As carers themselves, John and Maureen are avid supporters of the work of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and understand the strains and stresses which carers face on a daily basis.
Ruth Moody, manager of the North Argyll carers' centre, says: 'Maureen and John have been generous supporters of the work of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers both in North Argyll and throughout Scotland. We are delighted that they have chosen to support the work of the carers' centre once more and we wish them every success in both this and in future exhibitions.'

Tickets for the exhibition and cruise, which take place from 9 May to 12 May, are available from Caledonian MacBrayne on 01475 650 308 or can be made via their website on www.calmac.co.uk
