Belfast Carers' Centre

Services

What we do

We take pride in being a Centre where Carers, former Carers and those who work with Carers can access practical help and assistance in an environment that is supportive and designed to respond to what Carers tell us they want. Being a Carer for someone else is rarely easy. It can be rewarding and fulfilling BUT can also be isolating, physically and emotionally exhausting, financially crippling and it is a role that can come to dominate every aspect of life.

We have a range of services and supports that are designed to help overcome the many challenges that caring for someone else brings. A few of them are listed below. Please do contact us for further details on any of them. On the next page you will find more information on each of the services and benefits on offer to you.

The Centre is funded primarily to work with and for Carers in the Health & Social Services Trust areas for North & West Belfast, South & East Belfast and Ulster Community & Hospital Trust. Regrettably due to the current financial constraints experienced throughout all Trust and Board areas we do not receive funding to support Carers directly beyond these 3 Trusts at the moment.

We will however provide information to any Carers throughout Northern Ireland by trying to put you in touch with the appropriate service provider in your local area so please do talk to us. We would continue to welcome your enquiries so please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone, by calling in to the Centre or by e-mail.

Amongst other things we offer:

  • Information and advice
  • Someone to talk to
  • Help with claiming benefits
  • Financial support
  • Help to access social services and health services
  • Support groups
  • Therapeutic services
  • Information and advice on Direct Payments
  • Advocacy work on behalf of Carers
  • Social activities and fun!
