Carer Relief Project (Sharing the Caring)
This is an innovative and flexible Carer Relief project, designed to meet the needs of a carer by giving them a short break from their caring role.
Trained staff provide quality one-to-one stimulative respite sessions for the cared-for person. These are provided on a regular basis, both at home and through accessing social activities in the community. The service is available from 9:00am - 10:00pm weekdays, every day of the year excluding public holidays and any days falling between Christmas and New Year.
This allows carers to have some regular time to themselves, reassured that the person they care for is receiving appropriate support and care in their chosen activity.
Because demand is consistently high there is a priority system in operation. This is based on the carer's needs and the amount of time they spend caring. Carers are also able to request cover for emergencies or "one-off" situations such as hospital appointments.
The time and transport provided by the support worker is free, although there may be a cost to the person you care for depending on chosen activities.
