Minority Ethnic Carers Support Worker
The Minority Ethnic Support Worker meets Carers in their homes and at different community venues. She is aware of the needs of the Carer and is mindful of working and supporting them within the context of their cultural background and the values they uphold. She supports Carers access information and services that are relevant and appropriate to their cultural needs. Events reflecting cultural diversity are also organised. Our Support Worker can communicate with most Carers and their families in their mother tongue.
Drop-In surgeries and training sessions are held in different community venues – the Carers Leeds Newsletter includes information on this. Our Support Worker work closely with a number of organisations and Carers Groups including: Montague Burton Centre, Hamara Centre, Milun Centre, Asha Project, Ramgaria Sikh Centre, Shantona, Asian Blind Association, Fredrick Hurdle Centre, Mehifil, Handhan, Bangladeshi Carers Group in Beeston.
