What is the ‘Looking After Me’ Carers Course?
‘Looking after Me’ is a free course for adult carers. The course is about you making time to look after your own health needs. It aims to help you take more control of your situation. The course looks at
- relaxation techniques
- dealing with tiredness
- exercise
- healthy eating
- coping with depression
- communicating with family, friends and professionals
- planning for the future
‘Looking after Me’ does not cover carers’ rights or benefits, nor practical caring skills such as lifting and handling, although there will be information available on these topics on a resource table.
What does it involve?
- attending a weekly 2 ½ hour session every week for 6 weeks (first and last sessions last for 3 hours) It’s very informal and refreshments will be provided
- joining in group discussions and activities (as much or as little as you want)
- meeting people, having fun and feeling and coping better!

- Tuesday 22 April 11.30 (and following 5 Tuesdays)
- Thursday 12 June 11.30 (and following 6 Thursdays) except for break on 3/7)
- Wednesday 24 September 11.30 (and following 5 Wednesdays)
