Barnet Young Carers and Siblings (BYCAS)
Barnet Young Carers and Siblings (BYCAS) was set up by Barnet Carers Centre and Barnet Siblings in 2001 to provide a service for young people aged 5-17 years who help care for a family member or who have a brother or sister with special needs, disability, or a health condition. At present we have approximately 350 young people registered with our service.
BYCAS provides the following services for young carers and siblings:
- Fortnightly after school clubs
- Monthly outings
- Counselling (at the after school clubs)
- Monthly newsletter
- A chance to meet and talk to other young carers/siblings
- Advice and support
The BYCAS staff can provide information, advice and training on issues affecting young carers and siblings.
