Carers offer unpaid support to others who could not manage without help. They may be caring for a disabled child, an elderly parent, someone with mental health problems, a partner who is seriously ill. Becoming a carer can mean facing a life of poverty, isolation, stress and depression.
Manchester Carers Centre has spent the last 15 years finding ways to support local carers. Those who use our services describe the centre as “a life-line”.
Last year we helped 7036 carers with our different services across the city of Manchester. Manchester Carers Centre often helps carers who are in crisis, we assist individuals and their families with complex needs to help them recover, and improve their lives. We are extremely proud of our preventative work – we believe that when timely and supportive help is offered, carers can be reached before breaking point – giving them the strength and resolve to continue to care.
Given the right support carers are able to shape a caring role which is more independent and self -determined. Manchester Carers Centre passionately believes that all carers should be recognised and valued, and should enjoy a life outside of caring.
