The intention of government is to make payments only to Moderate and Severe disability. My daughter has a mild disability. I don't know what MP's think mild disability is but it surely makes a difference as I can not work and I am with her every day as I have been throughout her 24 years of life......
A mild disability doesn't mean that they will learn things alone as a whole year trying to teach my daughter how to iron and even I got nowhere. She ironed the creases too. I have ti teach her how to do things every step of the way. I spent years trying to teach her how to use knives and it is only in the last year she has started getting better.
She still can't travel alone or see the doctor alone but perhaps she will re reassessed..............These young people need more support not less and not everything should be left down to carers. I have supported my daughter 100 per cent but even I can not manage to help her make friends or force her to sit in a cinema alone as she has no friends..........
I am pretty angry with MP's as it is perfectly obvious they know so little about disability. Maria Miller says it is so we can help those with higher disabilites and that is great but what is a carer like me have to do to get help? My daughter has no quality of life and nor have I because the support system isn't there............ even now............So far Social Services have discharged her as not under their criteria and many others may soon be judged as not under their criteria as the Welfare Reform Bill will become law and many of us carers will be left with no on to turn to. We don't all have family and friends. Mine have all gone from the face of the earth and I am still promising my daughter to hold on to Hope..........................
I am exhausted trying to fight a failing system...............

It seems to me that if you
It seems to me that if you need to be with your daughter all the time the problem is that her disability is not mild. We need to be more accurate with these assessments.
As a nation we seem to have money for all sorts of things, the arts for example, which surely are less important than looking after somebody. We pay child benefit to wealthy families who don't need it and carer's allowance to people with extensive savings. We need to get our priorities right so that we can look after the people who need it.
Be strong.
