Rubbish week

27th February 2012

Posted by jakerleen

Well, been a rubbish couple of weeks here.  We went to McDonalds to fetch tea, at the drive thru the girl handed us our bags and drinks.  I started drinking mine and then the girl promptly started telling me how she had this virus and shouldn't be at work really but they had them in.  Yes, you guessed it 12 hours later I had that itchy feeling in the roof of my mouth.  By Tuesday I was in the emergency docs with a lung infection.  I tried to keep my germs to myself, but Dom picked it up and has been off school all week.

The NEED to Know

03rd February 2012

SpikyBoy needs to know things.  and when he needs to know them, he needs to know Now! This Instant!   "Mummy, can I just ask you something?"  "Not now, Spikyboy, I am in the middle of negotiating a tricky roundabout/trying to avoid a blindly reversing old lady/trying to listen to the Satnav patiently explaining where I went wrong.  I will listen to you in a minute, ok?"   Exactly 60 seconds later.   "Mummy? Mummy? What's petrol made of?"

Blogger in training!

Hello Everyone, This is my first ever blog, so bear with me please. I care for my son who has Asperger`s Syndrome. He is 21 years od and is a sweetie. He is somewhat reclusive and relies on me to look after him. He goes out with his friends once a week, but wild horses couldn`t get him out otherwise. I find it very difficult sometimes, being his carer, because we have no access to suitable services in our area.

Begin at the Beginning

“"Begin at the beginning,", the King said, very gravely, "and go on till you come to the end: then stop”  So, taking Lewis Carroll’s advice for my very first blog post, I shall do just that.

Still so little progress

It's 4 months since I found time to sit at the computer to write up my blog. Life is becoming harder by the day, yet still no real support or help is available.

It just keeps on happening

Well I'm back again, this time I lost the internet  because Marc has completely wiped a PC, a laptop & a netbook so thoroughly that they won't accept any operating system. This is a child that had lessons on copying his own name and counting money to 10p when he was in school. I really wonder why schools bother sometimes, surely they could see he was bored? Oh, no.Marc has learning difficulties so has to learn to speak and socialise, we won't bother that he reads technical data and can set up and use any technology better than anyone in school.

Is there no end to this?

Here I am again, finally at the keyboard. Marc has been having fun for a couple of weeks now. Not all of his behaviours are bad, but they're usually exhausting.

And things get even worse

01st June 2011

It was frightening to put things mildly. We managed the morning fairly well, just a few blips when I said no to Marc's continual eating. Then I had to go to the Hospital for a review on my fractured wrist. I've been in a splint since August & the surgeon has been pressuring me to undergo surgery, not an option as my hand & arm is usable in the splint.

How long do I keep going?

Another long gap between blogs I'm afraid. Life is just exhausting nowadays. No matter how many jobs I tackle there's always at least one more waiting for me. Then there's always some difficulty arising with a form that's been filled in wrongly, or an appointment changed due to circumstances beyond someone's control or a visit required for an assessment, just a few more hours to make me get further behind in the house.

another wonderful day (or not)

03rd March 2011

Once again it's been not a lovely day. The boys are doing really well, it's 8 days since Marc's last major tantrum & Jon's starting to show signs of moving on after his Dad's death. I'm getting to grips with being a widow and learning to deal with the massive loss & sense of fear I have when I think about the future. Then the world sticks it's oar in.
