meg mackenzie's review of The Flood by Ian Rankin

Better known as the author of the "Inspector Rebus" detective novels this book was one of Ian Rankins first stories.

It has just enough characters to make each chapter interesting but not too many so you can`t follow the plot.

It is set in Fife and Midlothian area of Scotland and tells the tale of Mary Miller who fell in a burn (stream) of toxic chemicals as a child and was considered a witch because her hair turned white as a result.

There are many twists to the tale as Mary struggles with her live bringing up her son and his resulting life problems.
